A onda dos carros elétricos começa a atingir até quem nunca imaginamos que poderia fabricar um veículo movido a bateria. Ou alguém já pensou que algum dia veria um Rolls-Royce elétrico? Isso! A marca de luxo britânica também já está na moda eletrificada.

O 102EX ainda é um estudo, mas reflete a preocupação da marca com uma palavra cada vez mais ouvida pelos arredores dos salões internacionais: sustentabilidade. Mais do que uma amostra do que a marca pode fazer, o 102 EX foi criado para ajudar a empresa a “find the appropriate technology to move the cars of the future" (encontrar a tecnologia adequada para mover os carros do futuro), citando as palavras do próprio CEO da Rolls-Royce, Torsten Müller Ötvös.

O carro-conceito foi construído sobre a base do RR Phantom, que ganhou o sobrenome Experimental Electric. Seu motor 6.7 V12 e a transmissão de seis velocidades foram substituídos por um par de motores elétricos com 145 kiloWatts cada, instalados na traseira.

O torque é de 81,60 mkgf e, como em todo veículo elétrico, está à disposição assim que se pisa no acelerador. Uma curiosidade fica por conta da bateria de íon/lítio, composta por 96 células elétricas montadas cuidadosamente com a forma de simular o formato do motor e da transmissão.

Quanto ao desempenho, a Rolls-Royce informa aceleração de 0 a 100 km/h em menos de 8s e velocidade máxima limitada a 160 km/h. A marca não revela se o 102EX será realmente produzido. Tudo depende da aceitação do público que passar pelo Salão de Genebra e da reação da imprensa especializada.
